Title: Discovering the Joy of Being
Personal Message from Carole:
Dear Friends,
“What is my purpose in life?” Over many years of doing readings, I’ve been asked this question by clients dozens of times. It occurred to me that many people knew about their outer purpose expressed in a career, but wanted to understand more about their primary purpose as a human being expressing Spirit. Several years ago, I decided to create a workshop- “Mastering Your Divine Life Blueprint”- specifically designed to explore life’s purpose from a spiritual perspective. I’m pleased to offer this workshop again on June 13 at Unity Center of Pittsburgh (details below.) I invite you to join us as we explore mindfulness meditation, the role of karmic blueprints for spiritual growth, wake-up calls and more.
As always, thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve. I hope our paths cross soon.
In Light,
Carole J Obley

Question of the Month
I lost my job last year and since then, I live in almost constant fear. It is not one specific thing I’m anxious about; it’s a general anxiety about life in general. What spiritual tools can I use to help me get rid of these feelings of dread?
Like many people today, you’re in a state of transition due to changes coming from the outside world- namely, the economy. Given the seemingly unpredictable flux of things nowadays, it’s easy to see how fear can hold us in its grip. But the truth is, it has only the power we give it. Changing our focus- shifting it from feeling loss into one of realizing opportunity to grow- helps us to remember that we need not be defined or imprisoned by the outside circumstances of our lives.
The easiest way to do this is by using the spiritual tools of mindfulness meditation and affirmations daily. These simple tools remind us of the truth of who we are as spiritual beings by helping us get off of the treadmill of our outside-centered mind. They remind us that we are not limited or defined by any circumstance in life. To learn more about mindfulness, see the article below.
Affirmations- positive statements of truth- reinforce the truth of our spiritual identity and resonate with higher states of our consciousness (the Divine Self) beyond fear. Examples are “I am centered in peace now,” “I am Spirit,” “I rest in the flow of life, which is always directing me to the highest and best experiences” and “I lovingly embrace and accept the abundance that life gives me.” These statements can be written, spoken or thought. You can create your own affirmations by simply identifying what quality of your divine essence you want to focus on. They will help you to shift your focus from thoughts of fear into awareness of the stillness within you- the seat of Spirit within.
Do you have a question about the Other Side or metaphysical spirituality? Please email it to carole@soulvisions.net. I cannot answer personally, but if it is something that will likely benefit others, I will address it in a future newsletter.

Finding the Joy of Being Through Mindfulness Meditation
By Carole J. Obley
When was the last time you realized who you really are? I include the word “really” because most people think or believe they are someone they aren’t, defined by the outside circumstances of their lives. How many times have you asked someone “What do you do?” and immediately formed a judgment of the other person? Our mind continually strives to place ourselves and others in categories and boxes, as if they can possibly contain the essence of us. Labeling people, places and things reduces them to a hollow image that is neatly organized in the confines of the one-dimensional mind that eventually traps us into believing its illusions.
Discovering the joy of being means going beyond external identification with our mind, body and the outside world. It means that we align ourselves with the inner consciousness that is Spirit- the core of who we really are. We disengage from the treadmill of thinking that is fueled by our identification with the outside world. We easily detach from our thoughts by becoming aware of the stillness within that is above thought.
The simplest avenue to inner awareness is through the breath, which can be used as a vehicle to go inward into stillness. It ushers us into the present moment, away from the future and past. Mindfulness gives us the ability to become the observer of our thoughts without becoming attached to them. It can be done anywhere, anytime (the exception being when your full attention is needed, such as driving.)
Close your eyes and focus on your breath- the rise and fall of your chest. If any thoughts come into your awareness during the meditation, imagine being in a beautiful summer garden, lying on the ground, looking up at the sky. Imagine the thoughts are like clouds floating high above you. See them slowly drift by above you as they move on. You rest peacefully as an observer in the garden.
Let the breath pull you into your inner being. Become aware of your hands or your feet. Feel the aliveness of Spirit that animates your body in your face, blood and bones. Shift your focus to the base of your spine- the root chakra. Feel the presence of your being there. Now focus on the top of your head- the crown chakra. Shift once again to your heart center. Let the breath pull you deeply inward. Feel the essence of your eternal being- who you have always been, who you are now and who you will be forever. Breathe in, breathe out. Slowly open your eyes, retaining the awareness that you just realized. Affirm: I am one with the Source of all-being. I carry the light of divine consciousness. I am!
Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lies the peace of God.

Testimonial
I came to Carole with an open but objective mind, and I left with no doubts about her abilities. I revealed nothing about myself to her, yet all of the information that came through in her reading proved to be absolutely accurate. This includes facts I didn't personally know at the time of the reading, but I was able to confirm later when I checked with my relatives. This also includes information pertaining to an event that actually took place several weeks after the reading! "Wow-factor" aside, the most important thing I took with me from my reading was a great sense of healing, affirmation, and closure. If there is anyone out there who feels they would benefit from work with a medium, but is scared to try because they don't know who is legitimate and who isn't, I can only promise you that Carole is the "real deal".
