Hello Everyone,

At this time of year, I like to look back at the powerful blessings I’ve received over the previous 12 months. There are many to consider, but my associations with people are at the top of the list. If you are reading this, you and I have crossed paths during a private reading, a group seminar, a workshop or as friends. For your presence in my life, I am sincerely grateful. Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to serve Spirit.

Insights for Spiritual Growth

Overnight, I lost my long-time job in retail sales nearly a year ago. Since then, I’ve submitted many applications to companies, but have had few responses and no real prospects for work. I’m losing hope. I’m scared of the future. Do you have any suggestions as to what direction I can turn at this point?

Thank you for your question. Losing a job is much like going through grief after losing a loved one, especially if the job was long-term as yours was. Something you learned to depend on, trust in, immerse yourself in and instill hope in was suddenly removed from your life. During the last year, you no doubt experienced many feelings- denial, anger, restlessness, sadness, hopelessness and fear. Interestingly, these feelings are not only commonly felt during the stages of grieving (first identified by Elizabeth Kubler-Ross in her work on death and dying), but also indicative of the process of transition- moving from one stage of life to another. The final stage of grieving is acceptance.

Moving through transition requires acceptance of all of your “negative” feelings. You must allow them to surface and move through your consciousness.Then let go of them. Attaching to them will cause more suffering and ultimately prevent you from moving on. Further, accept that the reality of who you are as Spirit is never limited, diminished or restricted by outside- external reality- forces. The small you-  through the ego’s perspective- sees your job loss as a painful experience- perhaps even a punishment or a personal attack. The danger in this is that you then identify the loss of a job with the loss of your be-ing. The big you- your Divine Self- wants you to shift your perspective into seeing the vastness of unfolding, available opportunities. It does not identify your core expression with any outside circumstance. The most effective way to connect with this larger self is through meditation and stillness to experience the expansiveness of your soul-self.

Ask yourself this question: What brings me joy? What would I do even if I did not get paid for doing it? The answer is a signpost in the right direction, according to your divine purpose. It is the fundamental difference between having a job and joyfully serving with your talents. Write your intent down and verbalize it daily. Act as if it were already manifested in your life. Exploring your innermost, heart-centered desires during transition gives you fresh perspective on where and how your soul is prompting you to step forward. My sense is that you will find many avenues open to you that you may have previously considered closed.

You’ve no doubt heard the old adage “If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Going through a crisis- such as the loss of income- forces us to examine the state of our own being and that is good. It is often painful, but ultimately necessary for our growth as both human and spiritual beings. Instead of throwing blame at the situation, we can listen to the voice of our soul through intuition and move accordingly. The choice is yours. I wish you the highest and best journey.

How Synchronicities Give Us Spiritual Direction

Recently I was waiting in a long check-out line at a busy retail outlet that I visit just several times a year. There must be a shorter line than this one, I thought. Leaving my cart in line, I walked a few rows down to scan the length of the lines to my left. As I did, a woman’s voice rang out loudly, “Carole! What a surprise!” Startled, I immediately looked to my right where Chris, one of my clients, stood beaming at me with an overflowing cart.

“My friends and I were just talking about you yesterday,” she continued. “We want you to come give another message program to our group. Wow! I can’t believe I’ve run into you here. It must be a sign that we’re to do this.”

I wasn’t surprised that I ran into Chris that day. In my life, I’ve become used to these uncanny “coincidences.” Synchronicities are the simultaneous appearance of two events or circumstances that occur at the same moment. They are meaningful to us if we notice them and consider them as validations that we are on the right spiritual wavelength. They occur in what can be called divine order or timing, which reflects the underlying oneness of the universe. In my experience, these occurrences have served a valuable purpose by giving me signposts from Spirit- Divine Source- on my journey. They’re similar to following the yellow brick road from one of my favorite movies, the Wizard of Oz. They are cosmic “yes’s” that tell us we are on track with our sacred blueprint we made before coming here.

Many times deceased loved ones participate in creating synchronicities to give family and friends a friendly “hello” and to provide comfort in times of grieving. An example of this from one of my readings concerns Anne and her son Tyler who passed several years ago. In the early stages of grief following Tyler’s passing, Anne pleaded with him as she drove to work one morning to show her a sign that he was still with her. Several minutes later- as she reached the top of the mountain near her home- Anne looked up in the sky to see a beautiful rainbow. Her mood instantly brightened because she knew it was a message from Tyler. Later, in a phone reading I had with her, Tyler validated that he had “sent” her the rainbow.

Have you had synchronicities in your life? What are they pointing to? Becoming conscious of these external spiritual messages helps us to better understand that we are one with everything. The outside world reflects the inner world of Spirit.
